Scarlet sat on the lounge room floor and inspected her navel. She stared at it for a long time. "Phew! That was close," she mused to herself. She shifted her gaze to her fingernails. They were relatively short, but still contained the day's grime. "I'm so glad that's over," she said. The sound of her own voice split the air. She looked up and saw the sunshine coming through the window. She followed its beam to where it landed on the couch. Dust and cobwebs shone in the light. "Onward and upward," she thought to herself.
